Special Events in Monterey County

The Office of Economic Development has been assigned the responsibility of facilitating coordination of Special Events. This process was created to assist organizations in meeting current public safety policies that are in place to minimize the risk and liability of the organization and the County. We realize that organizations have been holding a safe and successful event for many years and we want to help you continue that safe record.
We fully support and recognize the importance of Special Events because they build community spirit as well as bringing economic gain to our area. To support Special Events, we have developed a process that brings together the various agencies that play a role. These agencies include: Monterey County Sheriff, County Planning and Building Inspection, County Public Works, the local Fire Agencies, California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), CalTrans, California Highway Patrol and others who may need to be involved to ensure the safety of the public.
