Local Products, Local Menus

The Monterey County "Local Products, Local Menus" initiative originated from the Competitive Clusters (C2): Agriculture Cluster as a means to showcase locally grown products. Spearheaded by Monterey County Business Council's President Mary Ann Leffel, one of the ideas was to develop a logo to easily identify that a product was coming from our County so that restaurants and growers could put them on their menus or product packaging. Among other positive results of this C2 initiative, two logos were created for "Monterey County - Quality Products" and "Monterey County - Quality Services."
Through the help of the law offices of Johnson & Moncrief, LLP in Salinas, the logos have been officially registered with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Note the addition of the ® in the above logos. MCBC holds the trademark rights to the logos and does not presently charge a licensing fee for the use of the logos.
The purpose of the logos is to promote and increase visibility of quality products and services of Monterey County to internal and external consumers. Potential use of these logos include placement on menus by restaurants, product packaging by farmers and distributors, newsletters by Chambers of Commerce, directories by local organizations, marketing materials by local businesses, advertisements, and Web sites.
We invite partners to utilize these logos in their collaterals and Web sites as a Monterey County brand.

Logo Use Policy & Agreement

Use of "Monterey County - Quality Products" and "Monterey County - Quality Services" Logos
Purpose
To promote and increase the visibility of products and services of Monterey County to internal and external consumers.
Terms of Use
The logo may not be used in a manner that would in any way violate ethical rules (as one example, misrepresentations of fact on materials bearing the logo). The undersigned accepts responsibility for proper and appropriate use of the logo at all times.
Users may display the logo in any communication. Appropriate uses would include the use of the logo on products, in newspaper advertisements, yellow page listings, letterhead, business cards, pamphlets, brochures, television advertisements, and Internet displays.
The user shall agree to maintain and preserve the accuracy and quality of the logo. The logo may be enlarged or reduced in size, but the aspect ratio must be maintained.
MCBC holds the copyright to the logos and does not presently charge a licensing fee for use of the logo. However, MCBC reserves the right to change the terms of this policy at any time. In addition, MCBC reserves the right to withdraw the right to use the logo at any time.
